A Los Angeles restaurant which started as vegetarian but started serving meat last year is closing down after 14 years in business.
Sage Regenerative Kitchen & Brewery in Echo Park had its last day of business on Sunday, according to An Instagram post.
@thekindsage's post read, “We have all poured our passion into shifting the concept to regenerative agriculture, but despite our efforts, we find ourselves in the same predicament today.”
The post has more than 1,200 comments, many expressing strong opinions.

“I want to cry!” said one person. “Sage has always been my favorite restaurant.”
Owner Molly Englehart spoke to Fox News Digital last year while previously creating the vegan staple Controversial decision Adding meat and dairy foods to the menu – a move that sparks anger and confusion.
Menu changes such as the addition of animal products Beef, bison, cheese and eggs.
“I'm still not going to use processed food, and I'm not going to use chemicals yet, so I'm pretty true to my beliefs and identity,” she said. “I'm doing it from a different angle, which is annoying to people.”

Accordingly, there have been several protests Fox 11 Los Angeles, including one on Father's Day 2024 that forced Sage to close early after protesters stormed the restaurant.
Some Instagram users were still unhappy with Rishi's move to shut it down, with one even calling it a “triumph for the animals.”

Englehart and her husband, Elias Sosa, are both chefs and co-owners of Sage.
The two sold their home “hoping to breathe new life into Sage,” the business' Instagram post reads.
