An Etihad Airways Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner canceled its takeoff from there. Melbourne Airport in Australia Sunday due to technical reasons, according to reports.
Etihad Airways flight EY461 from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi began accelerating on the runway before hitting the brakes just before 7 p.m.
“The flight crew decided to abort take-off due to technical reasons, the aircraft was safely brought to a stop on the runway and emergency services attended as a precaution,” Etihad Airways told the UAE's state-owned newspaper The National.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that a passenger on the plane said two tires burst after the landing gear caught fire.

Etihad did not immediately respond to Fox Business' request for comment.
A spokesperson for Melbourne Airport told Fox Business that emergency crews responded to the plane and deployed fire-fighting foam as a precaution.
“All 289 passengers were safely disembarked and bused to the terminal yesterday evening,” the spokesman added.
Once the passengers get off the plane, it is pulled off the runway.
The incident forced officials to close the runway, which did not reopen until Monday morning after all inspections of the runway were completed.
Etihad Airways told airport officials it was rebooking passengers on future flights.

Flight tracking site FlightRadar24.com Shows the plane's track from the terminal to the runway, where data shows it reached about 170 miles per hour before stalling.
The plane's maker, Boeing, was plagued by crisis after crisis in 2024 after a Boeing 737 Max operated by Alaska Airlines flew out of a door.

Boeing has also launched an investigation into whether some fasteners were improperly installed on its undamaged 787 Dreamliner planes.
