Heidi Montag He's doing his best to “focus on gratitude” after a fire destroyed his family's Los Angeles home.
Montag and husband Spencer Pratt lost their property Tuesday, January 7th as the fire spread throughout Pacific Palisades. The couple and their sons, Gunner, 6, and Ryker, 13 months, were safely evacuated earlier that day.
“The craziest thing when you're packing for a fire is that your brain just freaks out,” Montag, 38, shared via Instagram stories Wednesday, January 8. Don't I need it?' It is so overwhelming to pack up a house. I mean, I only have two pairs of jeans, two shirts. I got a lot more clothes for the kids.”
Still, he asked himself, “'Why didn't I catch more?”
With tears in his eyes, Montag said, “The main thing is we're safe. We're out.” But in moments, “you're really panicked and then a part of you (thinks), 'I'm coming back.' You know, 'Of course I'm coming back for all (our stuff).' So I'm praying for everyone else who's going through this and for all my friends and loved ones. Thank God we have our health and I know that. It just comes in a wave of gratitude.”
Earlier Wednesday, Pratt, 41, gave birth A sad message In the Instagram grid.
“A positive sign I have seen Our house is burnt Our son's bed is burnt in the shape of a heart,” she wrote, posting footage from the nursery's ring camera.
She continued, “It's a sign of how much love was in this house that we're grateful for all the years and memories with our family.”
Spencer's sister, Stephanie PrattThe news was the first to be confirmed.
“I don't know if I'm in London or if I have to go back to L.A. I can't quite think. What should I do? Honestly looking for advice. I'm frozen in shock,” wrote 38-year-old Stephanie via Instagram Late Tuesday “How horrible for my sweet little nephew to see their home disappear like this. They must be very scared and confused.”
In her Instagram story, Stefani mentioned that she was “heartbroken” for her brother and their family.
“Just spoke to my dad – he tried to save my brother's house but the wind was too strong. He couldn't do anything,” Stephanie added. “Even the Palisades fire station burned down. Pacific Palisades is completely engulfed in flames. There is no one there.”
Stephanie also noted that the siblings' parents also “moved to safety” before their own home was seen burning down via security camera footage.
“My parents house is gone,” Spencer wrote via Instagram Stories on Wednesday, sharing a photo of the wreckage and adding seven crying emojis.
