Social media app Lemon8 is in the spotlight as a possible US ban hangs over TikTok.
The threat of a TikTok ban stems from a law signed by President Biden last year that seeks to ban the popular platform in the United States on January 19 if ByteDance does not file an eviction. Oral arguments are expected to be presented Friday in a case centered on a possible ban Supreme Court.
Both Social media apps Belongs to Chinese technology company ByteDance.
Lemon8 has been around for four years. It is also live in multiple countries, including Japan, where it was originally released, and the United States, where it launched in early 2023.
According to TikTok's recent press release, the app allows users to “discover and share useful content related to beauty, fashion, travel and more.”
It includes “creative tools, collages, filters, effects, stickers and text templates” that users can use when posting to the platform, the release said.
It has integration with TikTok, allowing users to have an account for both apps. That capability is available in November.

FOX Business has reached out to ByteDance for comment on whether Lemon8 could potentially be affected by legislation being weighed by the Supreme Court. ByteDance, according to its text, targets websites and apps “operated directly or indirectly” by TikTok and subsidiaries.
Lemon8 appears in both the Apple App Store and Google Play in the US, where it has 4.5-star and 3.8-star ratings, respectively.
CapCut, Lark and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang are among ByteDance's apps besides TikTok and Lemon8. In the US, more than 170 million people use its TikTok app.

ByteDance was founded in 2012.
Its co-founders, Zhang Yiming and Liango Rubo, are both billionaires, worth $45.6 billion and $2.2 billion, respectively, according to Forbes.
