Tech giant Meta Friday with immediate effect on its flagship Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs, joining a growing group of companies supporting DEI initiatives.
Axios cited a memo to Meta employees saying the company is shutting it down immediately DEI program For recruiting, training and selecting suppliers.
The company told employees that “the legal and policy landscape around diversity, equity and inclusion efforts is changing” in a memo from Meta VP of Human Resources Janelle Gale, according to the Axios report.
Meta Axios confirmed the report in response to an inquiry by Fox Business.

Gale's memo cited recent Supreme Court decisions that had the effect of “signaling a shift in how courts will approach DEI,” which contributed to the change.
“The term 'DEI' has also become charged, in part because it is perceived by some as a practice that suggests preferential treatment to some groups over others,” Gale wrote in the memo reported by Axios.
