The Restaurant Cricket League (RCL) in association with Adi Bodh Foundation, has launched the “Hunger Free India” mission, a transformative initiative aimed at eradicating hunger and reducing food wastage across the country. This mission is in line with Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision of Bhikshit Bharat 2047 and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of Zero Hunger by 2030, thus ensuring citizens, businesses and policy makers that no plate is left empty.
The Hunger Free India Mission aims to bridge the gap between food waste and hunger by creating a sustainable distribution system. This mission is a nationwide movement to build a fairer and more equitable society where nutrition is a right for all. The campaign emphasizes awareness, cooperation, and effective solutions to curb food waste. Bringing together stakeholders from all sectors, the Hunger-Free India Mission strives to establish an ecosystem that efficiently redistributes surplus food to those in need. Every food saved and every act of kindness brings India closer to a hunger-free future.
Restaurant Cricket League Founder Arvind Kumar said, “The Hunger Free India Mission is not just a mission; It is a movement that reflects our collective responsibility to ensure that no person in our country sleeps without food. It underscores our commitment to reforming how we distribute food to enable every Indian to play their part in a hunger-free future. Together, we will turn waste into wealth, making hunger a thing of the past.”
The conflict between hunger and food waste in India is one of its biggest challenges. Every year, 68.8 million tonnes of food worth about ₹7,92,000 crore is wasted, while 33.4 million children under the age of five are malnourished, 17.2 million of them are severely malnourished. The Hunger Free India Mission seeks to address the conflict by changing mindsets on surplus food and how it can be used, providing a sustainable and scalable solution to the two interdependent problems of food waste and malnutrition.
In this regard, Mr. Abhishek Bhatnagar, co-founder of Restaurant Cricket League, appealed and expressed, “This mission also seeks to highlight the role of technology and community participation. By making a missed call on 9213332999 or through the Hunger Free Bharat Mission platform, concerned people can be a part of this important initiative. It will not only redistribute surplus food but also spread awareness among people and engage them to reduce food wastage at every level.”
By building a sustainable and equitable future, this mission is promoting a culture of collaboration and sharing. The Hunger Free India Mission calls upon every citizen, organization and policy maker to participate in building an India where food abundance enables nutrition for all.
