Hong Kong totally gets it Pandastic As it prepares to celebrate the Lunar New Year, thanks to two locally bred giant panda cubs awaiting their public debut.
Born in the resident giant pandas An An and KK, the new arrivals will provide travelers with countless photo ops, as well as an exciting opportunity to enjoy a number of panda-themed experiences for the upcoming vacation.
With this in mind, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) lists the best places where you can enjoy an immersive panda-themed tour across the city.
Ultimate Panda Express
Hong Kong gets pedantic as travelers arrive.
Colorful pandas greet them on the airport express line and high speed rail train carriages at city borders, as well as the South Island Line which takes tourists to Ocean Park where the real pandas are.
In addition to the on-board decals, the concourses of Hong Kong and Ocean Park MTR stations will be decorated with panda-themed decorations.
Pandas everywhere
Visitors to Hong Kong will have plenty of opportunities for panda encounters around the city during the Lunar New Year celebrations.
For the first time, the Cathay International Chinese New Year Night Parade, which takes place on January 29, will feature a float dedicated to giant pandas incorporating Hong Kong's iconic local elements.
Additionally, giant panda-themed naked eye 3D billboards can be seen in high-traffic outdoor locations around the city, including Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok from January 6 to early February, and Causeway Bay from January 13 to 26.
While you're out and about, check out fascinating installations that showcase a panda's journey through iconic attractions, including a traditional junk boat, the Symphony of Lights, and surveying the view from atop Victoria Peak. What's more, PANDA GO's festive Lunar New Year stop! Fest Hong Kong will be held from 17 January to 6 March at D·Park, Tsuen Wan.
The exhibition will feature more than 800 panda sculptures in their first ever Lunar New Year-themed designs, bringing joy and celebration to the community.
In addition, nearly 200 panda sculptures will tour the Central Market from February 17 to March 6, allowing visitors to both locations to catch a glimpse of these adorable creations.
As home to six giant pandas, Ocean Park Hong Kong will be transformed into a panda-tastic wonderland. Dive into an immersive, park-wide Panda Land with themed experiences like Panda Wonders: An Illuminated Journey, a fantastic, multi-faceted journey that includes interactive installations, 3D projections and even AR pandas for a perfect photo op.
The theme park's food and beverage outlets are also joining the panda party, with sweet and savory panda-themed treats on offer.
Also, Ocean Park is the only place in Hong Kong with real-life panda encounters and check-ins.
Living with pandas
A number of Hong Kong hotels are also getting into the spirit of the city-wide panda-monium.
Regala SkyCity Hotel is celebrating the arrival of Hong Kong's new pandas with a playful panda dim sum collection and a creamy sesame and coconut panda mousse cake, available at Jade and Petra.
At The Harbourview, guests can enjoy the adorable Panda Bamboo Bliss Afternoon Tea Set reminiscent of a serene bamboo forest, the perfect way to join the Hong Kong Panda Party.
