ABTA has launched its annual 'Destinations to Watch' report. The report features 10 destinations that ABTA believes will inspire UK travelers to find their next holiday and aims to provide food for thought as we enter the busiest booking period of the year.
Recent research by ABTA shows that 68% of people are planning to go abroad this year and a growing number (45%) are looking to explore a new country for their holiday.
Customers are increasingly looking for a helping hand when choosing their holidays.
ABTA research found a significant year-on-year increase in people – from 34% to 38% – saying they had booked with a travel professional in the past year. As such, Sunshine Saturday is expected to be very busy for travel agents and tour operators.
ABTA's Communications Director Graeme Buck said: “Millions of people are looking to go abroad this year, with almost half of them saying they want to try somewhere new. The 'destination of the watch' gives them a taste of what may await them. Whether short or long haul; City or countryside; Offering opportunities for adventure, culture or simply relaxation – the report will have something for everyone.
“As always, we haven't deliberately chosen the 'most popular' or 'fastest growing' destinations, but rather aim to inspire with some fantastic places, which may not currently be top of mind.”
