AIDA Cruise & Help continues to improve educational opportunities in the world's poorest regions as it extends support to a 60th school, this time in Africa.

Felix Eichhorn, President of AIDA Cruises, personally visited Okanguati Primary School in Namibia to see the importance of the facility to the local population.

Together with Reiner Meutsch, founder of the FLY & HELP Foundation and long-standing partner of AIDA Cruises, he visits the community and talks to teachers and children on site.

Eichhorn said of the school: “The curiosity and enthusiasm of the children in Okanguati's Kaokoveld is exactly why AIDA Cruise & Help is fundraising and building the school. We are very happy that our initiative has already provided permanent school places to countless children from underdeveloped regions of the world. In this way, we are providing children and future generations with access to an education and thus a real chance for a better future. The impressive commitment of our crew and our guests shows that together we can achieve great things.”

Funding for learning

AIDA Cruises opened its first school in Cebu City, Philippines in 2019 and the construction of the facility was fully funded by AIDA Cruises and Aid grants.

Since then, more schools in twelve countries have joined the list of cruise line beneficiaries.

With its 60th school funding, the AIDA cruise and aid initiative celebrates another milestone.

60 projects are in the implementation phase with a total capacity of about 7,000 sustainable school places, 40 schools have already started classes.
