A funny thing happens when you watch enough horror movies: Ironically enough, it becomes harder and harder to find one that does. really Scares You is because very few horror movies have any real original ideas behind them, and many modern horror films disappear into a self-congratulatory mirage of Wednesque references and clever gags. Luckily, there's a terrifying modern monster classic you can stream for free: The DescentNow available on Tubi.
The Descent Into Terror
Even by horror standards, The Descent A well-structured narrative focuses on the adventures of a group of women who decide to go spelunking in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. The trip might be okay thing To take our main character's mind off that grief she's still processing from the year-long tragic loss of her husband and daughter, but things take a turn for the worse when everyone ends up in an unknown cave system. But soon everyone has more than just trauma and is lost in thought as they run into terrifying goblin-like creatures waiting to kill anything they can get their claws on.
What is part of it? The Descent Interesting as a horror film that (except for the monster “Crawler”) all the characters are played by women. This includes Shawna MacDonald (best known for the TV show Spooks) and Natalie Mendoza (best known for the TV show Hotel Babylon) The film also stars Alex Reed (previously known for the TV show Ultimate power), Myanna Buring (best known for appearing in the Twilight movies and the witcher series).
From a box office perspective, The Descent One of those spooky movies that was made on a relatively small budget and (compared to its cost) made some big profits. The movie was made on an estimated budget of £3.5 million (or a little over $4.3 million) and brought in a monster-sized $57.1 million at the box office. It was enough to warrant a sequel, though The Descent 2 The ending was a critical and commercial flop.
Fortunately, the original movie is loved by critics and audiences alike. on Rotten tomatoes, The Descent Holding an 87 percent critical rating, critics generally praised the movie's strong acting and intensely claustrophobic vibe. Via PopcornMeter, the movie has an audience rating of 76 percent, proving that it is not one of those horror movies that is loved by critics and audiences alike (like all other “advanced horror” movies).
serious nightmare
For me, I love The Descent For many of the same reasons…the all-female cast may seem like pandering, but it was done to set this movie apart from other horror films (such as director Neil Marshall's previous films dog soldier) Throughout the film, the characters truly feel like friends whose bond is constantly being tested by outlandish circumstances. Also, while they aren't exactly household names, each character becomes unique thanks to the cast's creative performances. .
but real Reasons to watch The Descent It's genuinely terrifying and manages to deliver visceral scares by refining some classic horror formulas into something that feels exciting and new. We've got characters who are trapped, but in a cave in the mountains rather than a cabin in the woods; We've got monsters that look like Gollum's third cousins, but are treated with deadly seriousness. Throw in a creepy opening and a vague ending (especially in the unrated version) and you have a movie that will haunt you…one that we really wouldn't recommend trying to watch before bed unless you're up for something. serious the nightmare
will find The Descent Nail-biting horror like me, or does this movie make you want to drop into an undiscovered cave system? You won't know until you dive in for yourself. Once this claustrophobic classic gets its claws into you, though, beware…you can't look away and you never Forget what you see.
