Costco shoppers are in an uproar online following recent reports that the company has removed a popular in-store feature at multiple locations.
Signs suddenly began appearing around the holidays detailing how communal coffee grinders would no longer be given out to those who wanted to grind their coffee beans for free before heading home.
Reddit user @phteven1989 broke the disturbing news last week with a photo of a sign that read “Attention Members: Coffee Grinders No Longer Delivered.”
“Uh oh, I don't know what happened … but we lost our Grindr privileges,” the Reddit user said in a post last Tuesday.

Another Reddit user confirmed the revelation in another thread when shoppers couldn't locate the service commonly found near checkout stations and food courts.
“What happened to remove their grinder?” asked user @StinklePink.
Both Reddit posts were quickly flooded with comments from fellow disappointed shoppers.
Fox business Reached out to Costco for comment, but they did not immediately respond.

Although the membership benefit was appreciated by many shoppers who quickly used it to grind a full two-pound bag. coffee bean Within a minute or less, a Reddit user who said they previously worked at the Seattle location speculated that the free service had been withdrawn due to poor customer usage.
“The grinders were broken at least once a week,” the employee, who goes by @Storkman1007 on Reddit, said in a post. “Even if there's a sign not to double grind, people will do it all day long and keep the burrs stuck.”
“We also had paint brushes to wipe off dirt and keep the machines clean, and people would drop the brushes and grind them in the coffee,” the employee continued. “These grinders cost several thousand dollars each.”

Fellow Redditors also revealed that their local warehouse often had damaged coffee grinder machines.
“Someone put chocolate-covered coffee beans in one of my local grocery stores,” one user commented on the Reddit thread.
“Double grinding, grinding nuts, dropping brushes,” another redditor posted. “Members cannot be trusted not to dishonor property they do not own.”

A customer commented on why their local store no longer carries the machine.
“Ours was next to the food court so naturally someone got stuck hot dog In one of them,” said the consumer. “We don't have any more coffee grinders in our warehouse.”

Grinding beans at home is also an option, with one shopper saying buying whole beans isn't worth the effort.
“I will never buy their whole bean coffee again,” the user said. “It's a good price, but it takes forever to grind this amount at home. My time is worthless for a discount.”
