Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian talks to 'The Claman Countdown' about the company's developments at CES 2025.
In with new technology space flight, Delta Air Lines is fulfilling its motto of “Keep Climbing” through the use of the latest aerial platforms and new partnerships. Delta CEO Ed Bastian discussed the airline's plans for the future and hinted that air taxis could soon take to the skies.
“You're going to start seeing them in the sky within the next few years,” Bastian said Fox Business' Liz Claman During CES 2025.
During this event, Delta Air Lines, celebrating its centennial, showcased its vision for the next century. The vision includes employing artificial intelligence and developing new and existing partnerships with it Technology company, ride share and the aerospace industry.

Through a partnership with Jobi Aviation and its all-electric vertical take-off aircraft (eVTOL), the CEO highlighted plans to bring home-to-airport air taxi services.
“They [Joby] All went through the certification process,” he said. “However, the FAA has been a huge supporter of bringing that mobility service into the air because they understand the problem is what's on the ground and all the traffic that's down there. The ability to work with jobs there has really impressed us with the technology. I think they're the leaders in the space.”

Joby is “engaged in a multi-year testing program with the FAA to certify our vehicles for commercial operations and has completed the first three of five phases”. Space company website.

“They realize the problem is what's on the ground and all the traffic there is,” Bastian said.

He also detailed how air taxis will operate and reduce travel time.
“You can take a job in New York, where you live, from Westchester County, to landing on JFK. [John F. Kennedy International Airport]” she said. “How long is that on the road?, maybe two hours… you can do it in 15 minutes and be inside a Delta SkyMiles club, and then your next stop… [inside] Your plane.”
Bastian concluded, suggesting that “it's all about value.”
