Inside Edition's Allison Hall Through this shared an emotional post Instagram On Wednesday, January 8, announced that she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is preparing to undergo a mastectomy.
“Tell me the story of Olivia Moon and the show I work on, version insidePlayed a role in saving my life,” Hall, 33, wrote in the post's running caption. “Last spring, after @oliviamoon shared her story about him Breast Cancer JourneyThe producers at @insideedition assigned me to the story and sent me to a breast cancer doctor here in NYC to be tested on camera. Inspired by Olivier, I took the breast cancer risk assessment test.”
According to Hall, her risk “was revealed to be high,” so the “wonderful doctors” at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City encouraged me to “begin a schedule of annual mammograms and MRIs.”
“I was ready to do this for a long time and had no idea how quickly this story would change my life,” he continued. “In October, I had my first breast MRI and a week later, just before I turned 33, I became one of millions of women to hear the words, 'You have breast cancer.'”
Hall explained that doctors also told him his cancer was a “stage zero,” meaning it “hasn't spread.”
“I have an early form of malignancy called DCIS,” she added. According to Johns HopkinsDCIS – or ductal carcinoma in situ – is 'a non-invasive form of breast cancer that develops in the milk ducts of the breast.'
“As you can imagine, I've been on a rollercoaster ride of fear, anxiety, fear and gratitude,” she continued in Wednesday's post. “My husband reminds me that this is the 'best, worst news' we can get. For many reasons, including my family history of breast cancer and my history of breast abnormalities, I have decided to not only deal with the current cancer but also to dramatically reduce my risk of future breast cancer. To minimize the risk. I chose to have a double mastectomy with reconstruction next week.”
Moon, 44, revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2024.
“Surprisingly, I only cried twice,” Moon wrote in a lengthy Instagram post Details of his diagnosis and subsequent treatment, which included a double mastectomy. “I guess I didn't feel like it was time to cry. My focus narrowed and I tabled any emotion that I felt would interfere with my ability to stay clear,” she wrote at the time.
In her Wednesday Instagram post, Hall said she considered “this experience a gift,” adding that her diagnosis allowed her to “do this for my future, for my future children.”
“I have some of the best family, friends, dogs, therapists, doctors and colleagues who have shown up for me and given me more love than I could ever imagine,” she added. “I believe in the power of storytelling. Olivia Munn saved lives by sharing her story. It was certainly a part of the mine preserve. I share my story with the same hope.”
