“This past Sunday, my dad passed away,” Katie, 37, wrote via Instagram Friday, January 10. “As I have met with a variety of emotions, numbness, peace, completely indifferent sadness and even guilt at times. My father was loved by all, he was very charming, made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. We shared Dad's love of jokes and he had an endless supply.”
Paying tribute to her beloved family member, Katie shared photos from a recent vacation, including a snowy trip to Salt Lake City, Utah.
“She was always so supportive of my brothers and I growing up and championed our efforts as adults,” she wrote. “I couldn't smell an Irish spring without immediately thinking of him, how the scent almost overshadowed the smell of wheel grease from his job. It's a key memory that I've always held on to and hold even closer now.”

As the Maloney family continues their grieving process, Katie focuses on all the positive memories she has with her father away from any camera crews.
“Dad, I love you forever, thanks for the millions of smiles, the father-daughter dances a lifetime and the love you gave us,” he said. “I feel like I'm a stranger to grief. As much as it has touched my life and I love so much. It's not something I'm comfortable with or familiar with.”
