Rachel Lindsey She broke her silence after finalizing her divorce from Brian resides.
“I am divorced. Thank you, God,” Lindsay, 39, said during the Friday, Jan. 10 episode His “Higher Learning” podcast. “Give me some freedom music. Some freedom music.”
After joking around for a minute, Lindsay turned serious to convince the co-host Van Lathan That it's a “very strange feeling” to actually be divorced.
“From the moment she finally left the house, seven months after the separation, I felt the divorce,” she continued. “I'll be honest, I have a lot to say.”
Lindsay noted that “from the beginning” she wanted to share her side of the story — but not quite yet.
“I haven't spoken, but I will and I'm just getting them out,” he continued. “There are a lot of things I want to address.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Lindsay revealed what “annoyed” her “the most” about how Abasolo was acting.
“On his end, there were things that were said to play into certain stereotypes that really hurt or upset me. … saying things that specifically play into the stereotype of me being an angry black woman,” she claims played out “a narrative” in which she “put a career” on relationships and children.
“These things are emphatically not so true,” Lindsay said. “Seeing people run with it because it's low-hanging fruit and it fits a certain stereotype, was really hurtful.”
Lindsay and Abasolo, 44, met on the 13th season and got engaged. bachelorette, which aired in 2017. he Filed for divorce from Lindsey in January 2024 after more than four years of marriage. Lindsay didn't talk about the specifics of their split during Friday's podcast episode but said she had to be the “bigger person” in their divorce.
“When somebody fights you like that and is willing to die on every hill and for whatever reason they have — and (I'll) talk about that later,” he said. “You have to step up and just be the big person and prioritize the things that are most important to you.”
Lindsey explained that she got to the point where she was “trying to move on” and “definitely had to make concessions that I didn't want to make.”
“At the end of the day my peace of mind is priceless, and I really want to start rebuilding, and I want to move forward,” he added. “I am able to do it now. And it feels really, really good.”
She concluded that she would “never get married again without a prenup,” adding: “This, has changed my whole perspective on everything. I don't even know if I'm going to get married again. I don't even understand it.”
