Micromobility giant Segway has launched two new e-bikes CES 2025 which are designed to make the riding experience easier, safer, more convenient and more accessible
The new bikes — the Xyber that powers the dirt bike and the classic-looking Xafari — are available for pre-order now, with delivery expected in February, according to Segway.
And while both bikes are different in vibe and aesthetic, they both share Segway's Intelligent Ride System, the company's suite of smart technologies and features, including: AirLock, which automatically locks the bike for unauthorized users and sounds an alarm if someone tries to tamper with it. with the bike; Apple Find My and Segway GPS; adaptive pedal assist; intelligent lighting system; syncing health and fitness data; IOT for over-the-air updates and remote control via app; and a smart TFT display that automatically adjusts brightness for maximum visibility.
Segway's Zyber Moto is 'unclassified' with aesthetics
Segway says its Xyber defies categorization. And it turns out it's true – it's not even street legal. The company says the Xyber is “unclassified” and “not intended for use on public roads or bike paths.” Because the bike is packing some serious heat. Its dual-battery configuration features 175 Nm of peak torque, up to 6,000 watts of peak power and a top speed of 35 mph.
Priced at $2,999.99, the Xyber has three throttle modes – Eco, Sport and Race. In Race mode, it will punch it from 0 to 20 mph in just 2.7 seconds. The bike can fly up to 112 miles on a charge with 20 x 5-inch fat tires. And even though the Xyber looks like something between a dirt bike and a motorcycle, it still comes with pedals and 12 different levels of pedal-assist.
A street-legal version will arrive in the spring or summer of this year for those who want to take this bad boy on the road, Segway said. It will comply with the federal Class 2 e-bike designation and come with additional safety features for on-road use.
Segway's Jafari: e-bikes for everyone
Priced at $2,399.99, Segway's Xafari is your classic yet modern step-up cruiser, perfect for all terrains and even all riders. Everything is easily adjustable – seat height, stem, handlebars and even the display, so riders from 5'1″ to 6'2″ can find comfort.
Speaking of comfort, Jafari takes its suspension very seriously, with adjustable preload and compression damping and lockout in the forks to keep the ride smooth. The bike also has 26 x 3-inch tires for a little extra support.
The 936 Kw battery is seamlessly placed in the stem, and can be removed for indoor charging, and its smart battery management system helps the Xafari get a range of up to 88 miles. That battery can also power your cell phone so you can charge it while you ride via the USB port and an easy-clamp phone holder on the bar. But riders may not need their phones, as the Xafari has an integrated smart display with navigation, range, music and more.
Finally, the bike is great for people who want to use it to run errands; It comes with a rear-mounted rack and in-frame hardshell and softshell bags for extra storage on the go.
