Nearly 2,000 flights were canceled, and thousands more were delayed across the United States on Monday winter storm Blasted a large part of the country with heavy snow and ice.
According to flight-tracking website FlightAware, a total of 1,846 flights were canceled and 4,340 were delayed as of 1:30 pm ET.
Southwest Airlines canceled 400 flights, the carrier with the most, followed by Republic Airways with 231 and American Airlines with 190. Washington, DC's Reagan National Airport canceled 259 flights, the most of any airport and accounting for 65% of all flights scheduled there. in the data.
Major US airlines Delta, American, United Airlines and Southwest also issued travel advisories between Saturday and Monday.
As the storm moved toward the Mid-Atlantic region on Monday, more than a dozen states from Kansas and Missouri New Jersey was under a winter storm warning and advisory.

The National Weather Service said, “The areas with the highest snowfall in the region are likely to see the heaviest snowfall in at least a decade.”
The NWS reported that at least 18 inches of snow fell near I-70 in Kansas, while upstate New York received several feet of snow.

Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a snow emergency until at least the end of the day Tuesday, while Maryland Gov. Wes Moore declared a state of emergency and warned residents to avoid travel.
